Timber Treatment

John Brash & Co Ltd treats all timber on-site.  We have three purpose-built plants that operate on a round-the-clock basis and are regarded as one of the largest, most automated in Europe.

The Batten Plant
Built and installed by Protim Solignum Ltd (Osmose), this PC-controlled plant has a vessel tilt mechanism and heating capacity. This improves the process efficiency and safety of the high-pressure timber treatment systems, and the enhanced fixation method reduces stock holding time.

Further savings in time and labour are achieved through the plant's integral automatic winch-loading, material handling and door-closing systems.  To safeguard the environment, virtually all chemical dripping occurs in the vessel.  This procedure is in line with the company's review of the environmental performance of its treatment processes.

Supplementary Treatment Plant
John Brash & Co Ltd has modernised its second plant to handle longer treatment cycles, with higher retentions as well as the option of using wax additive. The addition of a water repellent wax emulsion to the treatment process enhances the aesthetic qualities of the timber by reducing the incidences that can often occur with external landscaping timbers, such as warping, splintering and cracking. The risk of rot is also further limited. It is used for:
  • External Landscape Timbers
  • Decking
  • Cladding and Weatherboarding
Our third treatment plant has also been modernised to use Osmose Naturewood AC500. This treatment is especially suited for such products as Cedar Shingles and Shakes.
