JB Green & JBI
JB-GREEN - traditional roofing battens
Why JB-GREEN?
JB-GREEN is our traditional batten that has been used for many years and is fully graded to all aspects of BS 5534:2003+A1:2010 with the exception of a final grade for knots and wane, which must be carried out on site. This batten is now machined to improve its consistency in dimension and handling.
JB-GREEN is fully marked with manufacturer, size, species and grade. The TB33 marking is the John Brash code to indicate that a final grade for knots and wane is required.
All JB-GREEN battens are PEFC or FSC accredited.
JB-GREEN is only produced from side boards where the knots are straightforward to assess. It is in principal square-edged.
Part of the JB-GREEN range includes traditionally used sizes that are no longer recognized in BS 5534:2003+A1:2010 (Marking only applies to battens that fall within the BS 5534:2003 +A1:2010 table of sizes - see Table 2).
Packaging:
All timber from John Brash comes in small, easy to handle packs of approximately 1.5m3:

Storage:
JB-Green Roofing Battens can be safely stored outdoors. The battens will weather but this does not affect their life span. The green colour will first darken and then bleach to a grey colour. Battens should always be safely stacked and stocks should be rotated.
